Our 2013 In Numbers

by ScreenCraft on December 31, 2013

I've never been a numbers guy. In fact, getting through high school algebra, geometry and trigonometry were some of the most painful experiences of my life. Right up there with watching Shadowboxer, A Good Day to Die Hard and an episode of Full House (the latter of which was decidedly against my will). But it's the end of the year and top ten lists and cumulative box office gross figures and final tallies of all kind are permeating everywhere, so without further ado (if there actually was any ado to begin with), here are our key data points to throw into the ring.

In 2013, our homegrown and dedicated team at ScreenCraft:

  • Read over 147,000 pages of screenplays
  • Read, judged and consulted on over 1,800 screenplays
  • Launched 5 successful screenwriting contests and 1 screenwriting educational Fellowship
  • Publicly celebrated and championed over 200 writers
  • Averaged 15 Tweets a day and sent 5,865 (and counting)
  • Amassed 20,454  followers on Twitter and 1,588 on Instagram
  • Published over 250 blog posts
  • Held 8 panel events in Los Angeles and New York

All in all, it has been a fun first year for ScreenCraft. We have built a thriving community of screenwriters all over the world and have held events in Los Angeles and New York City with top entertainment executives, producers, managers and agents.

The winner of our Horror Screenplay Contest, Lichelli Lazar-Lea, is in talks with managers and companies to produce her creepy script "Vera."  The winner of our Comedy Screenplay Contest, Matthew Hirschhorn, is fielding calls from managers and agents.  Jeffrey Pfeiffer was a finalist in our Pilot Launch TV Screenwriting Contest and just signed with a manager at Caliber Media (one of our contest judges). Ashley Carbonnet's pilot was a finalist in the same contest and was optioned by Under the Stairs Entertainment.  We'll be announcing winners of our Action Screenplay Contest in a couple weeks!

In 2014 we look forward to the Writers Guild of America Awards in NYC (we're an official sponsor of the ceremony) and we will be covering major entertainment industry events including: Sundance, the LA Film Festival, Telluride and much more.

On behalf of the whole ScreenCraft team, thank YOU for being with us this first year and entrusting us with helping to develop your screenplays. Here's to your screenwriting career in 2014!
